BRAYCE® and the Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are an American hockey franchise of the National Hockey League from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Penguins were founded in 1967 and started playing at the beginning of the 1967/68 season. The team colors of the Pittsburgh Penguins are black, gold and white.

The Pittsburgh Penguins played their home games in the PPG Paints Arena (until October 2016: Consol Energy Center) and emerged from the major expansion of the league before the 1967/68 season, when the number of participants was increased from six to twelve. After the team was often faced with problems in the first 20 years of its existence, both in sporting and financial terms, Mario Lemieux and his team established themselves at the top of the league towards the end of the 1980s.

At the beginning of the 1990s, the prestigious Stanley Cup was won twice. After another crisis at the beginning of the new millennium, the team found its way back into the front of the league and celebrated further title wins in 2009, 2016 and 2017.

Honor The Next One with your Pittsburgh Penguins bracelet by BRAYCE®

Captain and NHL superstar Sidney Crosby #87 is the formative face of the current team. Sidney Crosby is a Canadian hockey striker who has been in the centre’s position with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL) since 2005. During his junior years he was already considered “The Next One” due to his achievements.

With the Pittsburgh Penguins, he won the 2004/05 Coupe du Président, the LHJMQ championship, and received numerous individual awards from both the Québec Major Junior Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey League. In the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Sidney Crosby was selected first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After scoring over 100 scorer points for the Pittsburgh Penguins in his debut season, Sidney Crosby finished the following season with 120 points. For these performances, the NHL awarded him the Art Ross Trophy as the best player in points in the regular season and the Hart Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player in the preliminary round.

In May 2007, he was named captain of a team as the youngest player in the history of the National Hockey League. In the 2008/09 season he won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh for the first time in his career and repeated this success in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons, and was also honored with the Conn Smythe Trophy as a play-off MVP in 2016 and 2017. Crosby participated in the 2006 World Ice Hockey Championship with the Canadian national team and finished the tournament as the best scorer. At the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics he won the gold medal with the Canadian selection.
